John Porter has been CEO of Telenet holding since 2013, the leading provider of telecom and entertainment services in Belgium and Luxembourg. Under his leadership, Telenet holding diversified its portfolio, built Europe’s largest GIGA network, and took bold steps in the local and international media and entertainment sectors. John Porter also led the launch of the network infrastructure company WYRE and drove Telenet holding’s transformation into an agile, customer-centric, and digital-first organization.
Before joining Telenet holding, John Porter had extensive professional experience in the telecommunications, media, and entertainment industries. He served as CEO of AUSTAR, a leading entertainment company in Australia, from its founding until its acquisition by Foxtel. Earlier in his career, John also worked at Time Warner (Ohio), Group W, and Westinghouse Cable Systems (Texas & Alabama). He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Kenyon College and studied political economy at the University of Zagreb.
John is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, as well as purpose-driven and servant leadership. A global citizen with dual American-Australian nationality, he has lived and worked across three continents. In his free time, he enjoys cycling and has a passion for music, film, and books. John is married and has four children.
