John Porter has been the Chief Executive Officer of Telenet holding since 2013. Telenet is the leading provider of telecom and entertainment services in Belgium and Luxembourg. Under his leadership, Telenet holding diversified its portfolio, built the largest GIGA network in Europe, and made bold moves into the local and international media and entertainment sectors. John also led the way for the creation of network infrastructure company WYRE and oversaw Telenet holding's transformation into an agile, customer-centric and digital-first organization.


Prior to joining Telenet holding, John already had a long career in telecommunications, media and entertainment. He served as CEO of AUSTAR, a leading entertainment company in Australia, from its inception until its acquisition by Foxtel. Prior to this, John also worked at Time Warner (Ohio), Group W, and Westinghouse Cable Systems (Texas & Alabama). John received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyon College and studied political economy at the University of Zagreb.


He is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion and promoting goal-oriented and servant leadership. A citizen of the world, John holds dual American-Australian citizenship and has already lived and worked on three continents. He enjoys riding his bike on the weekend and is also an ardent music, film and book lover. John is married and has 4 children.
